Two For Tuesday: Castelli & Saris

CASTELLI RACE RAIN BAG

castelli race rain

The Castelli Race Rain Bag is quite possibly the single most unexpectedly useful item to enter the Peloton Service Course. Though designed for holding pro racers’ extra rain and cold-weather gear in a team car, for us, it has become the go-to bag for transporting kit to and from work and races. Some race bags provide a bit too much room and can often be used for general travel. This bag takes a different philosophy: It holds everything you need to go for a ride—kits (we can fit two or three), helmet and shoes—and nothing you don’t. Any nutrition, sunblock or riding accessories organize neatly into the multiple mesh pockets at the top. Our favorite feature is the separate, removable shoe compartment, which is vented and also useful for transporting dirty kits. Arrive at your next event organized and confident you have everything you need! $80; castelli-cycling.com

SARIS SUPERCLAMP EX 2-BIKE + CARGO

saris superclamp ex 2 bike cargo

When your plans call for hauling a lot more than just bikes, Saris has you covered with the SuperClamp EX 2-Bike + Cargo hitch rack. This rack includes a cargo tray, so in addition to carrying two bikes (up to 35 pounds each), you can lash down up to 120 pounds of cargo on the 48-by 18-inch platform. But there’s still easy trunk access even when fully loaded; just tilt the rack away. With adjustable arms and wheel trays, and a wheelbase of up to 50 inches, this rack is ready to transport most any bike—all without needing to touch the bike frame and risking messing up the paint. $900; saris.com
