Finding anything from a top-flight classic like Paris-Roubaix is tough. Pre-WWII? Really tough. Pre-WWI? Not going to happen.
Imagine my surprise when this gem from the first running of Paris-Roubaix surfaced about 15 years ago. As was the custom at the time, all riders who finished the race were presented with a medal. Acquired directly from the Nezeloff family, this sterling silver medal somehow survived the precious metal drives of the ensuing two world wars.
What other treasures still lurk in the rural farmhouse attics of Europe?
