With the world grinding to a halt amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, leaving events and races canceled or postponed, tire company Panaracer is sticking to its financial commitments to events and their promoters for the 2020 season, whether they happen or not.
“We see supporting the cycling community, and especially events in 2020, as an investment in the future of the sport, and a way to recognize event promoters for the role they play in the cycling community,” said Panaracer’s Jeff Zell through a press release about the decision. Panaracer says it’s committed in some capacity to 30 events this year, between trade shows, festivals and competitions. All of those commitments, from event attendance fees to sponsorships, will be upheld this year, and promoters already have been or will be notified directly.
For decades, events have been an important part of how Panaracer engages cycling and cyclists, and we look forward to reconnecting with all of you, when it is safe to do so,” said Zell.
Many companies in the cycling industry have been stepping up to help in some way as the world deals with the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. Santini, for example, is transitioning to making face masks. And Assos is passing on 10 percent of online sales to its retailers through April.
