The much hyped and much anticipated follow up to the Assos S5 bib short is finally here. Dubbed the S7, it comes in four models and the second in the range, the T.equipe_S7 is in stores now for $269. Look for the T.neoPro and the T.cento to hit stores in leate January for $199 and $369 respectively, with the top tier T.campionissimo in March for a budget busting $519.
The hype surrounding these shorts is due in part to savvy Assos marketing, but the main ingredient to the incredible anticipation is the previous bibs, the S5. Despite costing twice as much as another other pair of bibs, Assos could not manufacture them fast enough to keep up with demand. Considered by most to be the benchmark in cycling bibs, the challenges facing Assos for the S7 were simple, could they improve on the S5, and was it even really necessary?
According to Roche Maier, CEO of Assos, “The S7 is a game changer. These shorts will set the standards for both the ultimate in performance and total comfort in the saddle. When it comes to keeping cyclists comfortable, we need that every day, on every ride and in every condition.”
