Starting in Germany for the first time in 30 years, 2017’s Tour celebrated the 30th anniversary of its historic 1987 start in West Berlin. But the Grand Départ in Dusseldorf also celebrated the current generation of German cyclists, which has won more stages than any other over the past five years. It also honored the German bicycle industry, a driving force in the industry today.
