Gert Steegmans has reached an agreement for one year with the Quick Step team. His current employer RadioShack released him, allowing him to return to Quick Step. Steegmans had a two-year contract with the team of Johan Bruyneel, but after a year of lackluster results and a horrific crash at Paris-Nice both parties decided to go their separate ways.
The new deal between Steegmans and Quick Step is for one year. The now 30-year-old Steegmans will return to the team as part of the leadout train for Tom Boonen, as he was in 2007 and 2008 when he rode for the team. Steegmans may also find himself in service of sprinters Chicchi, and Ciolek.
