The 2011 Red Hook Criterium brought a diverse group of racers and fans to the Brooklyn, NY waterfront on March 26. A unique street criterium raced solely on fixed gear track bikes (no brakes) offered fast racing, a generous prize list, and off-beat glory.
Defending champion Daniel Chabanov became the first rider to repeat the feat, getting the better of 2009 winner Neil Bezdek and Alexander Barouh, while sub-freezing temperatures and a stiff wind from the New York Harbor did nothing to dampen the enthusiasm of the assembled masses.
