The Italian veteran Davide Rebellin has extended his contract with the Polish Pro Continental team CCC Polsat Polkowice for another season.
Rebellin has a long palmares that includes victories in Liege-Bastogne-Liege, the Fleche Wallonne, the Amstel Gold Race, the Clasica San Sebastian, Paris-Nice and Tirreno-Adriatico. However, his reputation became tarnished after he was found to have tested for CERA during the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, where he won silver in the road race. He was given a two-year suspension.
This season he achieved stage victories in smaller races in Poland and Romania. He also took bronze in the Italian road championship.
“I am very pleased that Davide still remains in our team for a year,” said Peter Wadecki, sports director of CCC Polsat Polkowice. “He performed last season shows why we still need him. Despite his age, he still has a lot of class. He helps our team with his experience, his knowledge and his determination.”
