After having lost Aleksejs Saramotinsto a broken scaphoid from a fall at Paris-Roubaix, IAM Cycling has lost another rider due to a crash. Thomas Lfkvist has been the latest casualty in the recent rash of riders being hit by cars while out training and as a result will miss Amstel Gold, La Flche Wallonne, Lige-Bastogne-Lige and the Tour of Romandie.
Lfkvist was knocked down by a car at the end of his training session and suffered a compound fracture to his index finger on his left hand. The IAM Cycling rider has been examined by experts at the Geneva University Hospital and will be operated on in the evening. He will be unavailable for competition an estimated six weeks.
