Team Exergy has announced the signing of Ken Mills as Assistant Director Sportif for the team’s upcoming 2012 season. Mills brings extensive race-team experience to the role and joins Director Sportif Tad Hamilton in supporting the team’s expanding and conflicting schedule of races on both the NCC and NRC calendars.
Based in San Antonio, TX, Mills most recently worked as Competition Coordinator for Medalist Sports during 2011, and currently serves on the US Pro Executive Board as the Trade Team Trustee for USA Cycling. Previous experience as Director Sportif includes time spent with Jittery Joe’s, Rock Racing, TargetTrainging, Navigators Insurance and Kelly Benefit Strategies.
“We’re starting the 2012 season with a larger roster and much expanded schedule,” says Team Exergy General Manager Remi McManus. “So we really wanted someone who could step right in and quickly become a key part of the program as it grows. Ken has the experience to hit the ground running.” Previous results for Mills-led teams include international victories at Vuelta al Uruguay and Vuelta Chihuahua (Mexico), Most Aggressive and Best Young Rider jerseys at Tour de Georgia, and NRC victories at Tour of Elk Grove, Charlotte Twilight, Garrett Lemiere Criterium, with stage wins at Redlands and Tour de Toona.
Mills relishes the opportunity to return to the competitive side of cycling, “I’m excited about becoming part of the Team Exergy family for the 2012 season. Remi and Tad have done a fantastic job making the transition from the elite amateur ranks to the UCI continental ranks. They are one of the most exciting new teams around, and it’s great to have the committed backing of the Exergy Development Group on many levels.
“From the Men’s and Women’s pro teams to sponsorship of new races on the 2012 calendar, Exergy’s involvement in the entire sport of cycling is fresh and exciting, and I am proud to be a part of it.”
