BMC has announced the contract extensions of Brent Bookwalter, Marcus Burghardt, Yannick Eijssen, Martin Kohler and Danilo Wyss. Jim Ochowicz, manager of BMC, said the five riders each have an important role: “They know how we work and play an important role in support of our leaders.”
Bookwalter won the opening stage in Qatar and at the Tour of Alberta was second in the final standings. The 29-year-old rider was also a key in Tejay van Garderen’s victories in the Amgen Tour of California and USA Pro Challenge.
Burghardt, 30, was this year’s king of the mountains in the Tour of Normandy. The German also finished his sixth Tour de France and was one of the riders who won the team classification at Tour of Alberta.
Eijssen was third in the fifth stage of Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah and was crowned the most aggressive rider.
Kohler, 28, won bronze at the Swiss Championships and was fourth in the eighteenth stage of the Vuelta a Espaa. Kohler is the former Swiss champion on the road (2012) and in the time trial (2011)
Wyss, 28, holds a dozen top 10 results this season including four in Volta a Catalunya. His tenth place in ZLM Toer was his best result.
