Several of the biggest names in cycle sport will again be racing 3T components in the upcoming season. World Champion Thor Hushovd joins forces with Tyler Farrar in the new Garmin-Cervlo ProTeam, which met for the first time together in early December at a training camp in the Cayman Islands.
Garmin-Cervlos roster includes 18 riders from the 2010 Garmin-Transitions team and 7 from the outgoing Cervlo TestTeam. All of them will be familiar with their race bikes 3T cockpit previously 3T sponsored both teams. The USA-registered team makes its first appearance at Australias Tour Down Under beginning 16 January 2011.
3T is also an equipment sponsor to the Katusha ProTeam (Russia). Katusha, which won the team classification at the 2010 Vuelta a Espaa, will ride Focus bicycles, which are equipped with 3T forks. Katushas season also kicks off at the Tour Down Under in Adelaide. Additionally, through the partnership with Focus, 3T again sponsors UCI Continental Team Jelly Belly-Kenda.
In the triathlon field, 3T continues its partnership with teamTBB. Athletes at TBB use the full range of 3T aerobars and will be among the first to try out some of 3Ts planned new component ranges for 2011. TBB had a remarkable 2010 season and since its inception in 2007 counts 29 Ironman and 16 Ironman 70.3 wins.
3T also supports individual triathletes Emma Snowsill (Aus) and Luke McKenzie (Aus). In 2010 Emma Snowsill won the Hy-Vee ITU Triathlon Elite Cup in Minneapolis and the ITU World Championship Grand Finale in Budapest. Luke McKenzie is a 5-time Ironman winner and provides 3T with technical development assistance.
Finally, 3T has an ongoing development relationship with the track team of Cycling Australia. Its team riders provided valuable development input to the new SCATTO sprint bar, ridden by Anna Meares to 3 golds in the first round of the Track World Cup, and the SPHINX enduro bar, used by world points race champion Cameron Meyer, and his Madison world champion partner Leigh Howard.
Meyers close rival, Peter Schep (Hol), is also a 3T-sponsored rider and provides assistance to 3Ts ongoing track racing development program.
